Look what we did in Kindergarten this week:
Math: compared length to a reference object and ordered objects by length from shortest to longest
Religion: understood that Mary is the greatest saint, listened and responded to stories about Jesus
Science: observed and described the properties of rocks, soil, and water, observed and described landforms that can be found on the earth’s surface, identified resources from the earth and recognized that many of these resources can be conserved
Handwriting: practiced the letters Zz
Language Arts: identified the letter-sound relationships for Z, celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday, listened and responded to stories and practiced for the 3 Piggy Opera.
Social Studies: discussed maps and neighborhoods and shared our model projects
Learning Centers: We drew back to the future drawings for an art contest in the art center, played on the computers in the computer center, played a Green Eggs and Ham game in the math center, unscrambled Z words in the writing center, and used our imaginations in the dramatic play center.
Next Week, will be Ww week. Please remember Ww sharing on Wednesday, March 10th.
PLEASE REMEMBER: There is no school on Friday, March 12th due to a teacher-in-service.
IMPORTANT: The kindergarten class will be putting on our traditional production of the Three Piggy Opera April 20th. Every kindergartener has a speaking part. Please help your child memorize TWO critical things:
• Who he or she speaks after
• What he or she says
Grandparent’s Day is March 17th! Please return the rsvp form back to school asap. If your child doesn’t have a grandparent or special friend that can join us for this special day, please send me a note and we will pair them up with one of our kindergartners. Thank you!
