Community Outreach

As a Catholic community we inspire our students to share in the life of Christ. We provide an educational environment, which will strengthen the spiritual and social values of the students.

Mission and Purpose

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel students are expected to be active Christians and socially responsible people who become involved in their surrounding world and respond compassionately to those in need.

Our successful Community Outreach Program began in 1992. The monthly projects consist of organizing school-wide drives for several organizations that assist people in need locally, nationally and internationally.

The project has two primary goals: to teach the importance of community involvement to our students and to encourage the practice of religious values while helping people in need. Each grade sponsors one outreach drive that involves coordinating the activity for the entire school and incorporating it into their curriculum. Often the organizations that we support send representatives to speak with students about their particular role in the community and the challenges they face.

One of the most important components of the Catholic education is living gospel values. As teachers and parents, we are called upon to teach our children the importance of giving of themselves to serve and to share with those less fortunate. Sharing our love with others is sharing the love of Christ. During the Community Outreach Project service days, these religious values are constantly reinforced.
